Yes! I have availability for RevPit authors seeking editing
👉 Everyone in the RevPit community is eligible for 10% off any full manuscript critique or developmental edit.
👉 Everyone who submitted to me in the Annual Contest also gets a free query + synopsis critique ($100 value) when you book any full manuscript editing service.
⭐ Redeem by May 1, 2025 ⭐
Can be scheduled for a later date. If you received an email that stated you were on the shortlist, longlist, or maybe list, you may be eligible for an additional discount. Space may be limited. Manuscript does not have to be the one you entered in the RevPit Annual Contest. Contact us with any questions.
You’ll receive a separate document of comprehensive feedback about your manuscript, including notes on strengths and opportunities for improvement in terms of readability, clarity, and consistency. The notes will address big story-telling elements like plot, structure, pacing, scene structure, character development, point-of-view and voice, balance of show and tell, worldbuilding, and more. Also includes suggestions for your next steps, a tailored list of recommended resources, and a one-hour consultation call after you receive your notes.
Flat rate $0.02 $0.018 per word
Please note: you will not receive an annotated copy of your manuscript.
For personalized guidance in addition to big-picture feedback, a developmental edit is more in-depth than a Manuscript Critique. You’ll receive an overview of the same areas as outlined in the Manuscript Critique description, as well as the tailored list of recommended resources. You’ll also receive five one-hour consultation calls to create a revision plan with specific actions to be taken like adding reaction, cutting sections, clarifying character actions or motivations, enhancing the voice, and more, in addition to a separate document of notes on the storytelling elements.
Starts at $0.03 $0.024 per word
Please note: You will not receive an annotated copy of your manuscript. However, we can accommodate requests for written feedback in lieu of consultation calls on a case-by-case basis. Ask for details.
Includes feedback on your query letter (two passes), synopsis (two passes if needed), and first 50 pages (12,500 words, one pass only)
Flat rate $350
Or create your own package
* Two-pass query letter critique $50
* Two-pass synopsis critique $50
* First 10 pages (2500 words) critique $50
* First 50 pages (12,500 words) $250
* Second pass on pages $0.012 per word
* 30-min consultation call $100
Query letter and synopsis may be annotated (as needed), but the 50-page manuscript will not.
This option is perfect for a one-off specific concern. Some struggles I have helped authors with:
* deciding which publishing path is right for you
* applying feedback from agents, critique partners, or beta readers
* troubleshooting when something “just feels off”
* answering questions/ brainstorming solutions for specific issues with a story or craft technique (eg, “How do I fix this character arc?” or “I understand 3 act structure in general, but I’m not sure how to make it work in my story”).
If you have a writing problem or question you can’t find a satisfactory answer to, a consultation is a great choice for you.
How it works
When you reach out, we will discuss your concerns a little through email to make sure we’re a good fit and this is the best option (as opposed to editing services). Then we will schedule a meeting over Zoom (other methods/platforms are available by request) at a time that works for both of us.
What it includes
Each hour-long session includes Jeni reading up to 2500 words of materials prior to your meeting. It may also include exercises, recommended resources, and/or a follow-up email as needed. Transcripts of Zoom calls are available but must be requested in advance.
Flat rate $200 per hour
Also available in half-hour increments.
A self-guided workshop featuring my favorite self-editing tool for novelists
In this step-by-step workshop, learn how to create a reverse outline for your novel and use it to get a bird’s eye view of your story.
A reverse outline is a tool for writers that gives them a way to review their plot, pacing, character arc, worldbuilding, and other story-level elements without having to reread their manuscript over and over. If a regular outline is like driving directions for a road trip, a reverse outline is like a map where you push pins in at the places you’ve been. For plotters, panters, and everyone in between. It’s a game changer for writing a novel!
